xoThese items look pretty darn similar- right? Well, they ARE! Except one is far less costly than the other. Here on the left is the BH cosmetics brow pencil and on the right, the ABH brow whiz in all it's glory. BOTH fantastic, both cruelty free but one that'll give you fancy brows without the fancy price tag.
In the more recent years I have become quite familiar with my brows and how to pefect them. Brow game is a big deal nowadays. So even if I only have on a bit of powder on and only minimal makeup, I still take time to touch up and refine my brows. Having the right products is incedibly important (by right I do not mean pricey) to getting a perfected brow. I have tried all different formulas and textures of brow products and to this day, my favorite has to be pencil. THIN pencil. Anastasia Beverly Hills makes the brow whiz pencil and it is by far the best thing and gives the most natural, yet defined look to my eye frames.
However, once I went cruelty free and vegan, I wasn't able to procure much information on the animal friendly status of the brow whiz pencil, so alas, I left it in the past. More recently, I have come across several sources that have stated that ABH does NOT test and that the brow whiz is, you got it, vegan! Excited as I was...it's close to a $30.00 pencil...so my excitedness soon ended. It's perfectly fine to have a few expensive staples in your routine and indulge once in awhile, but I like being as frugal as possible and I just couldn't see myself dropping that kind of dough right now on a pencil- especially when I have a small collection of brow filler inners, pencils, powders, gels, creams...
So I set out to find a THIN, pencil that would give me a precise line and natural brow hair look, without that grand price tag, that is also vegan ( bonus points for a spooly that grips an dmoves the hairs like the ABH one).
My journey to find that pencil started over a year and a half ago and i only just recently found something that I feel I can share with you confidently. I was perusing the sales during blak friday and found a cruelty free company called BH Cosmetics. I had seen them of course, but hadn't purchased anything. Very cool note, of you type "vegan" into their sites search bar you will get all of their vegan products listed for you! I LOVE when companies take the time to do this and it makes me far liklier to actually purchase something from them. I mean, finding quality, vegan products can be a pain sometimes- kind of why I do this blog, to help you guys easily find good stuff :) I digress.
SO anyhoo, I am scrolling through their page and find these mechanical...thin..brow pencils with a FRIGGIN SPOOLY! Wanna know how much these bad boys were? $3.50 on sale! Of course I got one!
The day it arrived and I immediately tried it out. Firstly it is thin, like the brow whiz, it is almost as easy to apply but the formula BH uses is slightly drier so you will need to apply sligtly more pressure. This really isn't a big deal at all. The spooly is tightly woven so it grabs and moves hair easily and really well (I am a spooly snob). I did see some complaints that the product went fast but I honestly don't feel that it has disappeared any faster than my brow whiz pencil and it's far cheaper to replace regularly anyhow. Needless to say I really feel like this brow pencil is an absolute steal and I think you guys would love it to peices. Also, be sure to check out that "vegan" section on their site!
