Pastel Pink to Brownie Brunette with*Vegan* dye ft. Naturtint

This was my hair. It looks awful but tbh once it was styled and my makeup looked cool, it was pretty bad ass. I had a professional thing I had to do, which required no pink hair, sadly. I spent a year, lightening my hair and dyeing it amazing colors only to have to dye over it with brown-where I started in the first place! Agh!

I wanted to share this with you guys though because while I did dye it a very dark brown, it faded nicely, not too fast and also didn't take too long. I wanted it to not be so dang dark! I grabbed the naturtint box from Wholefoods and took a deep breath...
Picture
If you know little about the haircolor scale i'll make it easy- it goes 1-10 (generally) and 1 is black, 6 is RED and 10 is platinum blonde. With that said a 3 is dark brown. This came out super dark almost black. It covered my few grays and blended all of my roots and pink hair very well though. The reason I chose this one was because it said chestnut. Chestnut means warmth, when going from light to dark you have go to put the color back in, you have to add warmth or it will look green/grey and gross. This had some red tones, I had warm coral pink, so I knew it would be fine.
Picture
Don't freak out, ok I know it looks crazy dark but it grew on me and actually only took about a week for it to fade to this much warmer, chestnut brown...
Picture
Since this faded so well, I have been able to get some highlights put in to gradually lighten my hair up to possibly go right back to bold and bright colors!

TREND | Monochromatic makeup

I am thrilled that monochromatic has been making a comeback because it is the easy-peasiest of makeup applications. It can make you look fully done up when you  actually..took very little time and effort-which is, lez be honest, fanatastic!

For this simple and quick technique you just want to use the same shade, makeup product or shade family for eyes, lips and cheeks. For example a baby pink blush, petal pink lids and nude pink lip. But I have a way better solution and it's one you can use your own digits to do- cream cheek color for the face. Yeah I know! This stuff is not only easy on the pockets (talkin a few buck here people) but it's vegan and works so well.

Picture
The all natural face makes this tiny, adorable and totally totable compact with amazing all over face colors. I used Tequila Sunrise for my picture collage above. All I did was applied my foundation and then used my finger to apply to my lids and used another clean finger to blend up into the crease- stay with me. I then applied it to my cheeks dabbed on my lips and VIOLA! Seriously that's it.

There's a ton of gorgeous colors to choose from and at  a few buck a piece, you don't have to feel guilty picking  a few compacts. Also, fair warning, the site is chock full of affordable vegan skincare, haircare, bodycare and makeup- I never walk away with just what I need (Target lol) but I have loved everything!

Pop by the shop and let me know what you try and love!

This had to be one of my favorite vegan Cuts boxes I have gotten! Ever!  It have had so many things that I fell in love with almost immediately, and I am totally going to share them with you even though I would like to keep all of them my own personal Beauty secret.
The Marrakesh Endz hair protectant not only smells amazing but it works really well and makes my hair feel extremely soft especially on the ends where it needs some love. It helps to seal up and really smooth out all the stress I have put my hair through.  I also really love the Eco lip balm, it's minty! I am obsessed with lip balm and this one was mint which is also my favorite, score! The goddess garden SPF 30 Natural sunscreenhad to be one of my favorites because I've been searching for a non-irritating facial moisturizer with SPF, since forever, and this one gives my skin are really nice and glow all over without making it feel early or thick, cakey or heavy. I also didn't notice any itchy spots on my face which is what usually happens when I wear SPF.

I also started doing this fun thing for the warmer weather where I take my favorite full-coverage concealer and mix it in with the goddess garden SPF 30 and use it like a BB cream and it looks phenomenal!

To find out more of what was in the vegan Cuts box this month, what the boxes are like or if you are obsessed with unboxing videos peep my video above and prepare to become obsessed with vegan monthly subscription boxes!

5 Vegan Beauty MUST-HAVES that work like the non-Vegan stuff

1/20/2016

Picture
Lily LoLo Vegan Mascara-

One thing that took me years to find was a great vegan mascara. Many days I walked around with dainty, tiny lashes and wishing someone would just come up with a nice, thick, volumizing formula for one! Ahhhhhh! Well, here it freakin is! I wear this all the time-in fact I am almost out. I use it daily and it's been 6 months and I am just now running out. Win!

Picture
Kat Von D lock-it foundation

If you are tired of using natural, vegan, far too lightweight coverage foundations- then it's time to break out the big guns. Do you miss full coverage, that rich, creamy consistency and blendability? This foundation will cover everything and not budge all day and of course its vegan.

Picture
100% Pure Kelp & Mint volumzing Shampoo and Conditioner

I couldn't be happier with this set! Volume, hydration, moisture, detangling. It does it all! It smells amazing and refreshing and you get quite a bit of product for your money. Incredibly natural, totally vegan and really has worked wonders for my mane.

Picture
Mineral Fusion Nail Polish remover

It never fails. I paint my nails, then i regret it a few days later when i want to change colors. Removing polish is no fun at all and the remover's stink factor is enough to have you walking around with chipped up nails instead. This remover is located in the vegan section of the Mineral Fusion site ( I LOVE when companies have a vegan section). It isn't crazy drying to your nails, it isn't super stinky like the stuff you're used to and it removed glitter polish. Yeah, i said glitter polish. Their nailpolish rocks too!

Picture
Earthwise Beauty Marshmallow suds cleanser

This cleanser is probably my favorite of all time. It is vegan, natural and gentle. I am listing it here because I feel confident that it would work ith many skin types. It is gently sudsy, which is nice for someone like me who was addicted to gel cleansers- yet it is somewhat creamy/milky in consistency, which is great for drier skin types. It deep cleans like a gel and gets every stitch of makeup off without upsetting my combination/acne prone skin and without making my skin feel tight. The combination of the milky like texturw with the sudsing makes it great for so many type sof skins and concerns and it's so incredibly gentle.

$CHEAP$ Anastasia Brow Whiz DUPE!  Vegan & Cruelty Free

1/11/2016

Picture
Picture

xoThese items look pretty darn similar- right? Well, they ARE! Except one is far less costly than the other. Here on the left is the BH cosmetics brow pencil and on the right, the ABH brow whiz in all it's glory. BOTH fantastic, both cruelty free but one that'll give you fancy brows without the fancy price tag.

In the more recent years I have become quite familiar with my brows and how to pefect them. Brow game is a big deal nowadays. So even if I only have on a bit of powder on and only minimal makeup, I still take time to touch up and refine my brows. Having the right products is incedibly important (by right I do not mean pricey) to getting a perfected brow. I have tried all different formulas and textures of brow products and to this day, my favorite has to be pencil. THIN pencil. Anastasia Beverly Hills makes the brow whiz pencil and it is by far the best thing and gives the most natural, yet defined look to my eye frames.

However, once I went cruelty free and vegan, I wasn't able to procure much information on the animal friendly status of the brow whiz pencil, so alas, I left it in the past. More recently, I have come across several sources that have stated that ABH does NOT test and that the brow whiz is, you got it, vegan! Excited as I was...it's close to a $30.00 pencil...so my excitedness soon ended. It's perfectly fine to have a few expensive staples in your routine and indulge once in awhile, but I like being as frugal as possible and I just couldn't see myself dropping that kind of dough right now on a pencil- especially when I have a small collection of brow filler inners, pencils, powders, gels, creams...

So I set out to find a THIN, pencil that would give me a precise line and natural brow hair look, without that grand price tag, that is also vegan ( bonus points for a spooly that grips an dmoves the hairs like the ABH one).

My journey to find that pencil started over a year and a half ago and i only just recently found something that I feel I can share with you confidently. I was perusing the sales during blak friday and found a cruelty free company called BH Cosmetics. I had seen them of course, but hadn't purchased anything. Very cool note, of you type "vegan" into their sites search bar you will get all of their vegan products listed for you! I LOVE when companies take the time to do this and it makes me far liklier to actually purchase something from them. I mean, finding quality, vegan products can be a pain sometimes- kind of why I do this blog, to help you guys easily find good stuff :) I digress.

SO anyhoo, I am scrolling through their page and find these mechanical...thin..brow pencils with a FRIGGIN SPOOLY! Wanna know how much these bad boys were? $3.50 on sale! Of course I got one!

The day it arrived and I immediately tried it out. Firstly it is thin, like the brow whiz, it is almost as easy to apply but the formula BH uses is slightly drier so you will need to apply sligtly more pressure. This really isn't a big deal at all. The spooly is tightly woven so it grabs and moves hair easily and really well (I am a spooly snob). I did see some complaints that the product went fast but I honestly don't feel that it has disappeared any faster than my brow whiz pencil and it's far cheaper to replace regularly anyhow. Needless to say I really feel like this brow pencil is an absolute steal and I think you guys would love it to peices. Also, be sure to check out that "vegan" section on their site!

Summer Vegan Beauty Favorites 2015

8/1/2015

I review a lot of products. I quite often, have a bevvy of beauty booty, overflowing from my cabinets, drawers and decorative storage boxes. So I find it incredibly important to narrow down a few of my true favorites and stick them all together, especially when they go so well with a particular time of year or event. These are just a FEW of my Summer Favorites so far, I will most likely have a part two and 27.

No end Naturals is simply put, one of the top, handmade, vegan skincare companies out there. I did not know the owner until recently and she is a total gem of a human being. Sweet and really cares about what she does. The products are PHENOMENAL to boot! My Favorite is the French green clay mask-but I ran out-completely, which has never happened. I NEVER use up all of anything hardly. The mask is great for all over, I am a fan.

The NEN Refreshing facewash is something I actually use on my body. It is the perfect size since it's a bit large for a facewash (it would last you forever honestly, which is awesome) So I use it for both tbh. You get so much product, so put it to good use! It smells strongly of Lemongrass and I use strongly, lightly here because I get headaches from everything and this smells of lemongrass but in an aromatherapeutic "strong" way not strong like give you a headache. I honestly use it just to smell it even if I am already squeaky clean. SMELLS AMAZING.

The Herbivore Botanicals Bamboo Charcoal and Tea Tree soap is great for getting clean but treating some breakouts too. I use this about once a week to pull toxins out and really get that deep clean. It had a clean, tea tree scent and lathers really well. Great for after workouts or hot Summer days. Get ahead of the breakouts and suds up after you sweat. The charcoal reaches deep down to clean out your pores and sweat. Love it!

The Mocha body Butter from NEN is another one that I used completely up! It has REAL coffee butter and smells like you bathed in a fresh pot of Joe. It is divine. It is INCREDIBLY hydrating and even helped to heal my skin in the drier months too. The combination of coffee butters, coconut and cocoa butter are wonderful for healing up scars too! I use it on my legs after I shave to make them all super model shiny and soft.

100% Pure is 100% cruelty free and vegan and I love them. the packaging is so so cute! But this Kelp and Mint volumizing duo is what hair dreams are made of. Big, flowy, Summertime hair my friends. Clean, minty fresh and fabulous. The kelp and mint work so well and plumping up those lifeless, chlorine fried strands, not only hydrating but detangling and lifting them up!

Monave is a great little company and this is yet another company where I got to know the owner and just love her. She is a kind and gentle spirit and very giving and is a makeup guru. Everything is Vegan and handmade and just fantastic. Their aim is to empower women of ALL colors and they strongly focus on offering wide ranges  to accommodate women from very pale to very dark skins. I really love the Peach Pout lip crayon for Summer and Spring time, it has the perfect wash of color with a hint of pink and a little peachy iridescence. Really feminine and lovely. The Bronze lipcolor #44 is a light mocha color with a shimmery gold layer. Very beautiful for all skintones and a great neutral lip for Summer months. These are great if you aren't looking to use FULL coverage lip products and you like moisture and hydration. I really love them to pieces.

Hana Organics makes some truly divine skicare. This little jar is sturdy and feels like cold, smooth stones. It reminded me of a high end spa right away! The Jar comes with a little ceramic scoop that says "hana" on it and this is your cleanser spoon. I have used this a s a scrub, mask, cleanser and it is honeslty fantastic. I LOVE Lavender and clays are really good for the warmer months when we needs deeper cleansing. This is fantastic as an all over body treatment for body acne and breakouts too or just a DIT at home spa day.

Pacifica Power of Love lipcolors are bold, full coverage and last. This particular part of the line is focused on helping women build confidence and for every one you buy, they give one to a woman in need. Pretty cool! The Stellar Gaze mascara is lengthening but gives good volume too and doesn't get clumpy and is totally buildable which is a must for tiny lashed people like myself.

100% PURE Summer Vegan Beauty Haul

7/31/2015

Picture
Admittedly, I am quite obsessed with adorable, girly packaging. I even have the empty, decorative boxes to prove it. 100% Pure not only has great packaging with terribly adorable designs, but their products are totally cruelty free and Vegan!

Some Summer must have's from them are definitely the Fruit pigmented water based Foundation. It is light, with a very silky texture and gives a flawless base. I like this under my makeup because it isn't a cakey, full coverage, it acts more like a primer, filler and tone corrector. It helps my makeup to stay longer too-which, let's be honest, is very important in the Summer. Melty face. No thank you!

The Pretty Naked palette is just the cutest thing I have ever owned in all my life. It reminds me of my childhood somehow (perhaps the girly cutesy look) and I just adore it. The colors are classics for everyday or even a nice smokey eye. I can contour, blush, highlight and fill in my brows. Simple, compact and super easy.
Picture
Let's talk oily faces. I have one, especially when it's hot but I also get dry and cranky in the Winter. So what's a combination skin gal to do? Grab a moisturizer that doesn't feel like a greasy film on your face! This Jasmine and Green tea moisturizer does just that. I find oil free to leave me too dry and not hydrated at all, this is not oil free but does NOT AT ALL feel like a slick of greasy grossness on your pretty face place.

The eye cream speaks for itself, it is ridiculously hydrating. I pop this bad boy in the fridge and in these hotter months, lemme tell you-it's a godsend for puffy, dryer, delicate eye areas. The caffeine boosts circulation helping drain those puffy eyes and reduce swelling as well as combating dark circles. I know right!?
Picture
All I am going to say is, if you are finicky about how your beauty products smell and love stuff that wakes you up and smells delicious-get this set! It has a zingy minty scent (natural of course) and gives hair some serious vavavoom! Victoria's Secret hair for the Summer? Yes please! The Kelp and mint make sweet sweet love and provide much needed hydration to dry summer locks as well as flip worthy hair.

If you love funky footwear that's animal-friendly, this is the shop for you. It's affordable, hip and a little eclectic. Reminds me of the 90's a bit. It's got bright pics and all kinds of cool accessories and shoes to choose from. Definitely gotta drop by their shop! Plus, how cute are these kitty kicks? Be honest.

Picture
DRMARTENS.COM

Speaking of the 90's! Yep. That's right, Doc Marten's can now be found online with it's own little vegan section and cute selection! I, personally, have always been a fan of combat style boots. I think they go with everything although I am very wrong indeed.

MORE amazing Vegan-beauty TARGET stuff!

The all in one BB Beauty Balm powder from Physicians formula can  be found while skimming the aisles of your local Target. It helps protect against UV rays, minimizes the look of pores, covers dark spots, blemishes and is longer wearing than most BB's out there.

A day cream that does everything except the dishes. Free radical damage protection, skin firming, cell protecting, collagen supporting. Shall I go on? Acure is known for using incredibly natural formulations that are free of shady stuff and big in the effective department. They are also primarily vegan, with the exception of a few items. Awesome little powerhouse skincare product for hydration and firming.

The Yes to Carrots line is full of natural carroty, skin loving goodness and I am a huge fan!Their cleanser is fabulous at removing the grossness of the day ( you know that film that is on you after a long day, ew.) and brightening up your little face. It smells great, works better and doesn't strip your skin without mercy. It gets down and cleans all your pores and eats those dead skin cells and leaves you feeling refreshed but not dried out. Balanced skin by carrot lovin'.

Dr Bronners is just one of those brands you will almost always find somewhere in everyone's home. I am a huge fan because it has so many freakin uses! I use it to wash the dogs, the cats, the house, my hair, the floor, the dishes, my hands, body, you name it! They ahve so many wodnerful smelling ones and they aren't full of synthetic ingredients or fragrance and are vegan and cruelty free!
